Hair Loss in Men; Myths and Truths

Hair Loss: one of the most confounding conditions men and women have ever struggled with. People consider their hair as kings consider their crown; an important part of one's identity, an important part of one's self. Hair and hair loss are often considered as indicators of one's youth. People tend to assume that hair loss only occurs to old individuals and though untrue they also often equate hair loss with aging. That is why people are always appalled whenever faced with the possibility of hair loss. Hence we often do whatever they can and believe whatever we hear just to make sure that we get to keep that precious hair of ours as thick and as healthy as can be.

The real causes of hair loss or alopecia, as it is clinically known, have already been explained by science, however, before we proceed to know the real causes of hair loss, let us first see and examine the prevalent myths about why hair loss occur in men.

Now, Myth Number One: We often see TV personalities and even some doctors say that stress makes your hair fall out! Although it is unclear whether stress coming from severe life events can cause alopecia, there are case reports indicating that this may be so. It is however very rare and frequently no cause can be found for severe and rapid developing alopecia. Patients who have suffered hair loss following a stressful event may still benefit from specific treatment to assist in hair re-growth.

Myth Number Two: We often hear that bad blood circulation starves the hair follicles which make them fall out. Although patients with poor blood circulation do not appear to be more likely to suffer from alopecia, tight fitting hats and wigs may cause hair loss in a very small minority of people. The mechanism is still unclear but if it occurs, this may be due to the impairment of blood flow in the scalp. That is why extreme care should be taken by alopecia sufferers who wear these garments on their heads.

Myth Number Three: when your hair is dirty it damages the hair and it falls out!

Just not true! The worst thing it may do is irritate your scalp and make your hair smell. How many times at school did you have dirty hair and get away with not washing it for a couple of days? Did you lose hair then? Of course not.

Myth Number Four: Shaving one's head will cause the hair to grow back thicker. This is just not true. In fact, if you are suffering from androgenic alopecia, this will actually severely quicken your hair loss.

Myth Number Five: Dandruff causes permanent hair loss. This is simply not true. Dandruff is a condition of the scalp, not the hair. Dandruff occurs because of the excessive shedding of cells on your scalp skin. For dandruff sufferers, the natural process of scalp-cell renewal is accelerated when fighting off P. ovale, a normal fungus found on every human head.

Now what really causes androgenic alopecia or hair loss in men?

Now there are the DHT and the Androgen Receptors. Testosterone is an androgen hormone which is essential for the healthy development of the body and the maintenance of the secondary sexual differences we see between men and women. Testosterone is converted by an enzyme (namely, 5-alpha reductase) to form dihytestosterone or what we know as DHT. This conversion occurs in the peripheral tissues around the body and results in higher levels of DHT in the scalp and in the blood. Although the mechanisms are not quite clear, scientists believe that DHT is plays a major part in the development of androgenetic alopecia.

From puberty onwards, androgens interact with the genetically determined androgen-sensitive hair follicles, resulting in a sequence of events. This process includes gradual miniaturisation of the hair follicles, alteration of the hair growth cycle and eventually results in small thin hair follicles - hence, the patient will experience thinning and loss of hair. To alter the process and redress the balance of hair loss, products that inhibit DHT production, or interfere with the binding of the DHT, along with products that promote hair growth can be used.

When we have the situation detailed above our bodies react by considering these hair follicles as foreign objects that need to be dealt with! This is an auto-immune response. The body then rejects these hair follicles and this exacerbates the situation. Symptoms include itching scalp, tingling and inflammation of the scalp. You should consider the use of a shampoo that treats this irrespective of the hair loss solution you choose.

Hair loss in men or androgenic alopecia can be lessened and reduced, even stopped. All you need to do is know the right information about alopecia and do the right things to combat hair loss. There are lots of hair loss treatment medicines available out there; all you need to do is to know which one is the right one for you, depending on the extent of the hair loss. Remember, that the longer you wait to treat your hair loss, the harder it will be to achieve good results. So if you want to win this hair loss battle, stand up and do it now! The quicker you take action the easier it's going to get.

Hair Loss in Women: Myths and Truths

Hair Loss: one of the most confounding conditions men and women have ever struggled with. People consider their hair as kings consider their crown; an important part of one's identity, an important part of one's self. Hair and hair loss are often considered as indicators of one's youth. That is why people are always appalled whenever faced with the possibility of hair loss. Hence we often do whatever they can and believe whatever we hear just to make sure that we get to keep that precious hair of ours as thick and as healthy as can be.

Hair loss can be common in females and is more common following the menopause; however, alopecia will not manifest in all cases. In many cases the sufferer will simply notice increased hair loss and thinning of the hair; early treatment can improve the outcome. Although alopecia tends to be socially accepted in males it is unacceptable in females and in many cases it can have devastating effects on the sufferer's emotional state and confidence. But you should not despair - hair loss can be prevented and stopped once you know what causes it and what you should do.

The real causes of hair loss or alopecia, as it is clinically known, have already been explained by science, however, before we proceed to know the real causes of hair loss, let us first see and examine the prevalent myths about why hair loss occur in women.

There are many websites that try to dispel the "myths" of womens hair loss but some of these so-called "myths" do have a basis for truth. Let's now examine many of these popular "myths" and provide a balanced response.

Myth Number One: Frequent shampooing contributes to hair loss. Many websites say this is "rubbish", however, in textbooks of trichology it is recommended that "extra care" should be taken for fragile and thinning hair. These measures include using gentle shampoos as heavily medicated shampoos can affect the scalp and brushing should be gentle as well. Any tangles of hair should be separated without pulling of the hair. So, it's not so much how frequently you wash your hair but what you wash your hair with!

Myth Number Three: Hats and wigs cause hair loss. This is untrue on the whole, all hats and wigs do is just cover your hair. Hats may even help shield your hair against the damaging causes of direct sunlight. However, if you are a sufferer of alopecia you should avoid tight fitting hats and wigs in our opinion.

Myth Number Four: 100 strokes of the hair brush daily will create healthier hair. Brushing your hair does stimulate the glands on your scalp to produce oil that will keep your hair healthy. However, a hundred brush strokes does more damage to your hair than what you wish intend. A hundred brush strokes on thinning and fragile hair will be more devastating than helpful. It is important to look after thinning and fragile hair and gentle brushing should be sufficient to maintain the condition of your hair and can be of benefit. Tangles should be separated by fingers without pulling the hair.

Myth Number Five: Permanent hair loss is caused by perms, colors and other cosmetic treatments. Whilst treatments on hair can damage the nutrients and make it less healthy it will not lead to permanent alopecia. However, should hair loss be experienced after perms etc. then you should avoid them. That is why you have to scrutinize whatever you use in your hair since improper use of products may cause potential hair loss.

Myth Number Six: Women are expected to develop significant hair loss if they are healthy. Utter rubbish.

Myth Number Seven: Shaving one's head will cause the hair to grow back thicker. This is just not true. In fact, if you are suffering from androgenetiic alopecia, this will actually severely quicken your hair loss.

Myth Number Eight: Standing on one's head will cause increased circulation and thereby stimulate hair growth. We're afraid not; although poor blood circulation may cause some hair loss, increasing blood circulation just does not stimulate hair growth either.

Myth Number Nine: Dandruff causes permanent hair loss.

Myth Number Ten: We often see TV personalities and even some doctors say that stress makes your hair fall out!

Myth Number Eleven: Hair loss does not occur in the late teens or early twenties. Whilst fairly rare this is not true. Alopecia or hair loss may happen to anyone regardless of their age.

Now what really causes androgenetic alopecia or hair loss in women?

The most common type of hair loss seen in women is androgenetic alopecia, also known as female pattern alopecia or baldness. This is seen as hair thinning predominantly over the top and sides of the head. It affects approximately one-third of all susceptible women, but is most commonly seen after menopause, although it may begin as early as puberty. Normal hair fall is approximately 100-125 hairs per day. Fortunately, these hairs are replaced by the mechanisms in the body. True hair loss occurs when lost hairs are not re-grown or when the daily hair shed exceeds 125 hairs. Genetically, hair loss can come from either parents' side of the family.

There are two different types of hair loss, medically known as Anagen effluvium and Telogen effluvium. Anagen effluvium or loss of hair that is in the anagen or growing phase is generally due to internally administered medications, such as chemotherapy agents, that poison the growing hair follicles. Telogen effluvium on the other hand, is due to an increased number of hair follicles entering the resting stage. The most common causes of Telogen effluvium are: (1)Physical stress: surgery, illness, anemia, rapid weight change; (2)Emotional stress: mental illness, death of a family member; (3)Thyroid abnormalities; (4)Medications: High doses of Vitamin A, Blood pressure medications, Gout medications; and (5)Hormonal causes: pregnancy, birth control pills, menopause. When the above causes of telogen effluvium are reversed or altered you should see the return of normal hair growth.

Hair loss in women: androgenetic alopecia, anagen effluvium and telogen effluvium can be lessened and reduced, even stopped. All you need to do is know the right information about alopecia and do the right things to combat these conditions.

Marketing a Cosmetic Dentistry Clinic the Right Way

Marketing a dental services or any kind of service for that matter, is no easy task. Today's business world is over saturated in many areas that is why differentiating your business practice and carving your own niche or vertical market is of the essence. Dentists who graduate and start working on their fields often have to "fly under someone's wing" until they have managed to acquire enough hands-on experience and the capital to make it on their own.

Just like a car which needs fuel all new and established businesses need a professionally elaborated marketing plan which will attract potential clients and will get things going, we all know that clients are the most important piece of the puzzle to a dentistry service.

Some dentists manage to do their own marketing campaigns at small scale, this includes word of mouth, referrals and business cards but the truth is that these are steps a home business owner would resort to. Brick and mortar businesses start with negative cash flows as they need to invest in equipment, labor, cover expenses, pay employees and so forth; the only factor service businesses rely on to turn things around and realize a profit is to attract a large base of clients as quickly as possible.

Strategic marketing for dental clinics involves advertising steps which are exclusive to the field for instance:

- Practice management and consulting: this field covers the way your business team works together and help them improve the areas which need work in order to increase efficiency and convert new patient enquiries into consultations.

- Dental recruitment: this involves finding the right team of qualified individuals to work for you under delegated or direct supervision.

- Dental accountancy: any business owner knows that smart accounting can provide a clear financial picture of how things are doing and how to adjust expenses in order to increase assets. Standard accounting procedures do not quite cover all the expenditures and transactions done through a dentistry business that's why tailored services are needed for this business.

- Practice branding: a professional logo design and motto can do wonders for any business specially in this vertical market, if the right message is sent through the business brand clients are most likely to look for your clinic instead of your competitors.

- Internet marketing: today's businesses are all going digital, it is a fact that the internet is the most used tool when it comes to finding the right information, in fact internet sales are expected to increase dramatically each year because the technology is constantly evolving. Making your dental service easy to find is an important steps which needs to be done through PPC campaigns and organic SEO practices.

Remember that just like any other brick and mortar operation which operates in the UK, the right marketing campaign can take your services, name and reputation straight to the top.

New York Seo, Search Engine Optimization and Internet Marketing

Promoting a state versus promoting a product requires different mindsets. In the first case, a state encompasses many facets – downtown, historical attractions, museums, demographics, environmental initiatives, industrial zones and many other topics that would interest visitors.

In the second case, promoting a product imposes a narrower focus. You feature the product – how it’s manufactured, how it can benefit users and sellers’ payment options. Since selling a product is more concentrated, the target audience is defined and sales objectives are more clearly established.

Promoting a state is a more complex activity, whether or not it’s for the public sector (city governments) or private sector (travel agencies or tour organizers).

State or product – different approaches, different outcomes. Both, however, share a common thread. For any type of online promotion or advertising to work, search engine optimization must be the guiding principle.

SEO for state of New York

Why is it important for New York-based companies and organizations to use SEO strategies?

Reason: to attract the correct target audience so that web site operators and owners can pull in substantial traffic. To pull in substantial traffic, the web site must look professional, comply with search engine requirements (look and feel), offer quality content, and encourage repeat visits or convert visits into points of sale.

If the city government, for instance, wants to promote the best spots to visit in downtown Manhattan, its web site must zero in on the downtown core by using keywords that are frequently used by people when looking up New York. The following elements therefore must be featured with relevant information (this is not a comprehensive list):

Statue of Liberty

Central Park

United Nations

Soho

Metropolitan Museum of New York

Cornell University, Vassar and NYU

Wall Street

New York Subway

Chinatown

The boroughs (Brookly, Long Island, Bronx, etc)

Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

And many other spots that a first-time visitor would be curious about. You’ve heard the phrase “content is king” hundreds of times. An excellent SEO strategy for a web site promoting New York would be to provide useful information that not only fulfills the tourism need, but also covers history, operating hours, and even testimonials.

What do people want to know when they’re planning a trip to the Big Apple? Hotels and restaurants obviously. An SEO expert would probably contact a few major hotels and ask about reciprocal links.

Take a restaurant entrepreneur in Manhattan who does brisk business. If he averages about US$50,000 a week from walk-in customers, imagine how much more his restaurant could make if he had a web site that ranked well with the search engines. This means his retaurant would make it to the first two pages of say Google or Yahoo every time a surfer types “New York restaurants” or “places to eat in Manhattan” on the search engine box. This is proof that his SEO provider knew what keywords to target and used a number of ways to attract visitor traffic.

In addition to foot traffic to their physical locations, businesses in New York could increase business by also establishing an online presence powered by good SEO practices.

The present economic crisis and fierce competition make SEO indispensable. Business people are not the only ones who benefit. Here are some individuals/groups/organizations that could use SEO to their advantage:

Investment brokers

Doctors

Psychologists

Antique collectors

Hobbyists

Symphony orchestras

Student credit unions

Environmental lobbyists

Restaurateurs

Spa operators

Massage clinics

Fashion consultants

Tour operators

Insurance companies

Real estate agents

Pet supplies store

Chambers of commerce

As you can see from the list, there’s a New York SEO package for everyone!

Advantages of Internet Advertising

As an SME looking to gather more awareness for your business, advertising and branding is important. The advantages of internet advertising is extremely high. When people are searching for a service to benefit their lives, the 1st thing they would do is to use a search engine and look for the service closest to them. Its common to be earning 40,000% profit just by using online advertising for an offline business. Before we go into that, lets take a look at other forms of advertising.

1) Word of mouth

Free and Viral, when people start spreading the news of your service, you get free publicity.

2) News Editors

Contributing articles to your local news editor on topics which are hot. Editors are constantly looking for good articles or news for their readers. So if you can offer a product of service, something of value to the masses that is current and will garner readership, they will do a story on you.

3) Participating in groups and marketing your service to that particular group

Google Groups, Theme based forums such as golf. So if you're a golf coach, head for the golf forums.

4) Traditional TV and Radio advertising

This is mainly for the bigger companies dealing in mass consumer products. Insurance, Food, Health products, Cosmetics.

5) Buying Ads in Magazines with tight themes

Examples include Fashion magazines, Body building magazines, car magazines.

6) Newspaper advertisements

Classified Ads are a common place to advertise. Other areas to advertise in are the money section where there are reports about how to make money through investing, insurance, money management etc. Many investors turned trainers like to advertise in these areas to a tight targeted audience.

7) Internet Advertising

Very simple and affordable for SMEs. 1st you'll need to have a website that's able to gather leads and even better be able to process sales. Just hire a web designer at elance.com. A good website would be able to convert customers or simply let them know how to find you. Instant traffic can then be generated simply by placing Ads on Search Engines such as Google. Many times for my own business, I like to generate instant traffic for quick returns, then followed by long term traffic generation strategies. Why? Simple, with Adwords, I can understand which keywords are converting and further SEO my site for these Buyer keywords.

Some specialists actually advertise their services using Adwords. I remember clicking on an ad which i know cost only $0.10 because it was extremely targeted and focused. The clinic charged me $400 for service. Best of all, the advertiser does not pay any advertising cost, until someone clicks on the Ad. which is why Search engine advertising is so profitable. Its costs pennies as compared to Magazine, Newspaper, TV advertising and yet the ROI is so incredibly high.

The advantages of internet advertising will greatly benefit your bottom line.

Hyperhidrosis - Finding Treatment For Excess Sweating

Do you suffer from excessive sweating? All of us sweat to some degree, it is a necessary function the body uses to keep itself cool. But in some people, the body can produce more sweat than is needed to regulate its temperature. This can be an uncomfortable and embarrassing problem.

The condition of producing excess sweat is called hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis can be localised to a particular part of the body or it can occur all over. The hands, feet, groin, or underarm areas are the most common for the condition to be noticed, as these contain the highest concentrations of sweat glands.

The Cause of Hyperhidrosis
It is not fully known what causes hyperhidrosis, although some doctors feel that factors such as stress and anxiety may help to trigger the condition. The embarrassing effects of excess sweating can cause further anxiety, which aggravates the condition further. Certain foods and drinks can also trigger the symptoms of hyperhidrosis.

Treatments for an Excessive Sweating Problem
There are several different treatments which doctors may prescribe for hyperhidrosis. Sometimes aluminium chloride is used to treat the condition. This is an ingredient commonly found in anti-perpirants, but is prescribed in a much larger dose for hyperhidrosis sufferers. However, aluminium chloride is not effective on all parts of the body, and can cause skin irritation.

There are drugs which can be used to treat an excessive sweating problem, but, as with many drugs, there can be side effects, which include drowsiness, vision impairment and dryness in the mouth and mucus membranes.

Hyperhidrosis can be treated surgically, by removing part of the sympathetic nerve trunk which is associated with the production of sweat. While extremely effective, the chances of the condition recurring are high, and surgery is a drastic option which should be avoided whenever possible.

Botox© for Hyperhidrosis
One hyperhidrosis treatment that has been found to have a high level of success with few side-effects is the injection of Botulinum Toxin, or Botox©, into the affected areas. Botox© helps to reduce excess sweating by blocking the chemical messenger acetylcholine which stimulates the glands which produce sweat.

Botox© treatment for hyperhidrosis lasts up to 6 months and produces no side effects in most people.

Icon Cosmetic Clinic has clinics in Brighton, East Sussex, and Tunbridge Wells in Kent. The clinics offer Botox© treatment for hyperhidrosis (excess sweating) and many other non-surgical cosmetic procedures and beauty treatments

Health Copywriting Tip - Don't Make This Mistake in Perspective and Lose Your Prospect

What can frozen carrots teach you about copywriting? Find out how perspective can make all the difference in drawing your prospects to you.

The below-freezing temperatures of early November put me in a bind. Lulled into a false sense of security by a late warm spell, I'd left my carrots in the ground instead of harvesting them promptly. And the icy weather made my attempts at digging them out of the rock-hard frozen earth look ludicrous.

Every day as I went about my morning chores, I grumbled as I passed the garden.

And then my son made me reconsider my perspective.

One afternoon, instead of tromping up from the bus drop-off to the kitchen door, he bounded off in the opposite direction. I watched as his orange-coated figure weaved through the trees and headed to the pond.

"It's frozen solid!" he announced with a grin when he finally burst through the door, cold air wrapping around him. All he could think about was the ice-skating to come.

Another lesson in perspective: One person's nightmare is another person's boon.

It's the same thing with copywriting.

Know your prospect so you can really speak to their perspective. Because just like my son and I when it came to freezing weather, different people have different reactions to the same situation - sometimes even polar opposite ones.

Here are three examples more specific to the health marketplace:

  • In a sales letter advertising an alternative health book on cancer treatments, the copywriter described the experience of a patient beating cancer at an alternative clinic. In listing the great results he added - "and he even lost weight!"

While this may work for some readers, it also raised a red flag to me. So many people dealing with cancer struggle to maintain weight. It may not be the best benefit to emphasize given the audience.

  • Statistics tell us that middle-aged women are the primary purchasers of nutritional supplements. In fact they are often the ones buying for their husbands or fathers as well. So if you're selling a supplement for men - a multivitamin or prostate support - consider finding ways to speak directly to this audience.

Write a liftnote, from wife to wife. Or make an effort to include testimonials from women who purchased the supplement for the men in their life.

3. With flu season coming on, who wouldn't want an immune booster? I didn't give this a second thought until I started writing copy for one of my clients this year. Many of the people on her list suffer from auto-immune disorders. When you're battling your own immune system, a gung-ho immune system boost is not necessarily on your wish-list.

To make sure you're not missing the perspective of your target audience, research your prospect . . .

  • Examine your data cards carefully and check your assumptions.
  • Go to online reviews and forums. See what people are really talking about and how they talk about it. I like Amazon.com for reviews and Everydayhealth.com (formerly Healthtalk.com) for forum discussions.
  • Ask customer service - maybe even tap into a few conversations and listen intently to what people are saying.
  • Test and look at the results. Is the headline you thought would work the best, not performing?
  • Eavesdrop discretely in supermarkets, at the gym, waiting for the doctor.

Get to know your prospects well and apply your detailed knowledge to create copy that hits home with them.

Promoting a Dental Clinic Website - Types of Online Marketing

In order for your dental clinic website to work its magic, it requires one or more forms of marketing to attract attention and show visitors what your practice really has to offer. Online marketing involves several different techniques and formats. You and your marketing expert can select the perfect method or combination to target your ideal method while following the ideal plan for you.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Search engine optimization is a particular way of tweaking the internal and visual components of your website to improve its ranking in the search engines. Climbing to the top of the front page attracts more natural visitors, and therefore, new patients to your website.

Paid Advertising Campaigns

You can promote a dentist website design several ways through paid advertising. Pay-per-click ads appear on the right hand side of the search results when the correct keyword is entered. They are paid by the 'click' after a bidding process for position. When you purchase advertising space on another website, it is referred to as banner advertising. Generally speaking, the cost is largely determined by the size of space you 'rent', and for the length of time you would like them to carry your banner.

Email Marketing

This form of dental clinic website marketing has gotten a bit of a bad wrap in recent years due to the large number of spammers using similar techniques. However ethical practices in conjunction with email marketing can be a very powerful tool for strengthening your practice and your dentist website design. You can use it to relay information, and connect with your present customers. This fortifies the relationship you already have with them. In addition to this, they can easily forward the message on to friends and family, growing your practice. Email marketing can also be an effective way to promote particular treatments that you find profitable, or a particular area of your practice you would like to see grow.

Social Media Marketing

The power of word-of-mouth advertising has been well known for years. Think of social media marketing like word-of-mouth advertising on steroids. This form involves the promotion of your dental clinic website through social media sites including Twitter, Facebook, and several other mediums. Social bookmarking sites such as delicious and many others are also included. It was virtually unheard of a few short years ago, but it has definitely taken the world by storm. In fact, many businesses use it along with their dentist website design as an open line of communication and feedback between the management and clients.

Niche Marketing

While this style can promote your dental clinic website in many ways, all of the methods have a single common thread: they all specialize in your specific area of expertise. This could include directory listings, websites, forums, and many other sites that cater to those in the dental profession.

A little bit of the right marketing can take a dental clinic website a long way when it comes to seeing the return on your investment. Select the right combination, and you will find your dentist website design will not only grow your practice, but will also cement the relationships you have already formed with your patients.

Christine O'Kelly is an author for Officite, the dentist website design experts. Since they began in 2002, Officite has created more than 3,100 dental clinic website designs, generating more than 100,000 appointment requests

Do it Yourself Abortion

NO-WAY!
Don't do it.
Never do it!

Don't ever even think about it.

Never listen to dumb advice about doing it.

Perhaps having a safe abortion in a clinic is better than suffering death from infection of a do-it-yourself abortion, but any abortion is worse than having an unwanted baby.

STOP and try to think clearly. An abortion is seldom the best choice.

This is the moment when every girl or woman needs to try hard to put away her confusion, embarrassment, and fear...and look at "every" option. Now is the time to consider making some other person happy.

There are many women who suffer the loss of a child through miscarriage, medically required abortion or still-birth and now can now never give birth to a child of their own. They would love to have a baby; perhaps yours.

This is the time to at least try to think of the rights of un-born child. Be brave and talk to a priest, doctor, or friend and seek advice on how you can save your baby and make another human happy.

Even during a crisis God knows the suffering a person is enduring and will give you guidance...if only you ask. You will make Him happy if you protect this life... your baby.

Probably most women and girls who try the "do-it-yourself" abortion do it because of religious and social restrictions that make a safe abortion in a hospital a criminal offence.

Another reason so many people, especially younger girls, try the "do-it-yourself" abortion (or throw the newborn into a trash can)...is because of embarrassment. They are ashamed to face their parents and friends. This is another example of how important Effective Sex-Ed is.

Women and children all over the world resort to cruel, painful, dangerous "do-it-yourself" abortions because of illogical social religious restrictions. There is probably no city or village in America that doesn't have an underground network of names and addresses of the "witch-craft" old women who can give you an herb or pill or help you with a crude, unsafe abortion. While this might normally be better than awful advice from a friend who says, "Just carefully insert the smooth end of a coat hanger until you feel it happen." it is still very dangerous.

This is the time to try hard to think of logical alternatives.

In Mexico, officials estimate that 1500 women die each year from "do-it-yourself" abortions. Abortion is a criminal offence in Mexico). Yet it is estimated that 850,000 illegal abortions are still performed every year. In Mexico 96% of the population are Christians and of these 92% are Catholics.

Laws and religious restrictions against abortions naturally hurt the poorer and less educated more than the affluent people.

Those who can afford the expense can easier find a doctor to perform a safe illegal abortion for the right fee in most any city...anywhere in the world.

It is very customary for the more affluent to send their daughters, girlfriends or wives quickly to another country (on a vacation) to get an abortion, so that families and friends "never know".

Effective Sex-Ed can teach all people, especially girls, how to avoid a situation that requires an abortion by knowing how to avoid pregnancy. This is the logical answer. Silly, illogical, man-made religious doctrine that condemns masturbation, condom use and birth control...strongly encourages abortions.

Everyone of every age (even very young children) have strong sexual desires and will find ways to satisfy these desires. They should. This is God's Plan. God created us humans. We humans are taught that God is Perfect. If we believe what we preach, then how can an honest and intelligent person ever condemn masturbation. Sexual intercourse is ignorant sex for children. Masturbation is sex and is clean and safe...and is the perfect alternative to sexual intercourse.

The strongest desire humans have is to satisfy hunger and thirst. The second strongest desire every human has is a need for sexual satisfaction. This is human nature. It is in our genes and DNA. No one can argue with human nature. Wake up Christian brothers and sisters. Be logical. Few things in life are perfect, but logical intelligent adults have a responsibility to at least accept the best of the bad things. Allow fellow humans, especially children, logical alternatives.

If you refuse to make masturbation a 'house hold word', at least show love and teach girls to have enough self-confidence to just admit to family, friends, and the world that they are pregnant...and then cope with the embarrassment as they decide the best solution for their individual situation.

FOR SURE
No coat hanger, no magic herbs,
no illogical advice from friends,
no visits to old women in dark alleys,
no "do-it-yourself" abortion.

Effective Sex Education "yes"
Condoms "yes"
Self-abortion "no"
Adoption "yes" "yes" "yes"
Clinic-abortion "last choice"

Clinic-abortion "yes"
Self-abortion "no"

Most important...consider ADOPTION.

I am a Christian who feels that Christians have a responsibility to help all humans on earth. I enjoy addressing controversial areas that aid in this goal. I am a male age 72, retired Army Sergeant Major, married, living in Stuttgart, German with my family. My son is an American and a commercial pilot with German airline. Prostate Cancer and Its Alternative Treatments

What It Is

Prostate cancer is when cancerous cells form in the prostate causing a tumour. Once the cancerous cells have formed, it is then possible for them to travel away from the prostate to affect other parts of the body. The prostate is a gland that forms part of the male reproductive system and is located below the bladder. For this reason, prostate cancer only affects men.

Causes of Prostate Cancer

Although the exact causes of prostate cancer are not fully understood, there are a number of factors that increase the likelihood of a man developing the cancer.

The most common factor is age. Although younger men can be affected, the disease is far more common in those aged over 45 or 50. Besides age, the chances of getting prostate cancer increase if you have any female relatives that have had breast cancer, any male relatives that have had prostate cancer or if you are from a particular ethnic group, such as African or Caribbean.

However, lifestyle also has an influence, and for those who are overweight or have a diet which is high in fat, the chances of developing the cancer are increased.

Symptoms

There are numerous symptoms for men suffering from prostate cancer that we are aware of, although all of them can also be symptoms of less serious conditions. However, if you suffer from any of these then we would highly recommend a trip to the doctor.

One of the most common symptoms that we know of is a frequent need to urinate, especially if this occurs at night. If the flow of urine becomes interrupted, if there is any burning sensation or you find it difficult to start urinating, these could also represent possible symptoms.

Other symptoms include erectile dysfunction, experiencing a painful ejaculation or finding blood in the semen or urine, although this is quite rare. Pain in the lower back can also be a sign of the condition, as well as pain in the hips or the upper thighs.

Conventional Treatments

Conventional treatments for prostate cancer can include surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and hormone therapy, but these all depend upon the health and age of the patient and the progression of the disease.

A radical prostatectomy is the most common form of surgery, and involves removing the prostate and the surrounding tissue. This is usually the best cause of action for patients where the cancer has not spread.

Chemotherapy and radiotherapy can both have unpleasant side effects, and hormone therapy works by blocking the role of testosterone which helps the cancer to grow, which can only work to slow the spread of the disease rather than offering a cure.

Cryotherapy and ultrasound are also possibilities, as is a more extreme form of surgery known as an orchidectompy, which involves the removal of the testicles to prevent the formation of testosterone.

Alternative Treatments

The conventional treatments for prostate cancer can produce very unpleasant side effects, and so many people opt for alternative treatments instead.

One of the most successful types of alternative treatment is known as Bio-Photonic Light Treatment. This is a completely natural treatment, and aims to restore the energy that has been lost in each of the cells affected by the cancer. It works through directing UV rays right at the cells, restoring the patient's natural energy levels to increase the chances of recovery.

Another successful alternative treatment is a special formula known as Formula MVA. The immune system is often badly affected by the spread of the cancerous cells, and this formula aims to boost the immune system using a combination of powerful natural substances. Containing Palladium, Acetyl Cystiene and Vitamins B1, B2 and B12 amongst others, the formula gives the body a huge boost, further enhancing the possibility of fighting the disease.

High Body-Temperature Therapy is another successful technique that aims to mimic the conditions of a fever in the body in order to destroy the harmful cells. This natural process works by using a specially-designed infrared sauna, which produces a type of sweat from the body which is packed full of toxins, far more than occur in normal sweat. This literally works by flushing the toxins out of the body, leading to a much greater chance of recovery.

All of these treatments can be undertaken alone or in combination, but one that is often used alongside other treatments is EFT, or Emotional Freedom Techniques. Cancer is often a result of a traumatic or stressful event in a person's past, and EFT aims to balance the meridian through completely non-invasive treatment. It aims to restore balance to the body and reverse the process that has led to the formation of the cancer, thereby increasing the chances of a recovery.

10-Point Checklist for High Visibility in Google

Google is the pre-eminent search engine (SE) with no close competitor. Given that inclusion is free, your Web pages must be in it. We'll show you how to top the Google SERPs, that is, be found at the top of the search engine results pages. These techniques are known as search engine optimization (SEO) and require a small investment of your time.

I took two of my sites to the top of the SERPs in three months, so it can be done. My pages have few competitors: my challenge was mainly to get past false positives such as resumes, job vacancies, articles, and so on. If you are competing with "real" sites that are selling competitive products such as the ones you read about in your spam e-mails, you can get there within a year with some persistence.

Goal

Casual Google users use default settings, so your site must get into the top 20 results. Unfortunately, you cannot assume that visitors will use the most appropriate search terms. Real people are unpredictable.

Google SERP

You must understand that SERP positioning is dynamic - what you see depends on no single factor. It depends on the viewer's location, the type of search used (basic, advanced, regional, filtered, and so on), the content of the page, their keyword density, the page rank (PR), the search term (words or phrase), and so on. Therefore, you need to plan your site carefully.

Ten-Point Checklist

1. Domain Name and Server

Get a .ca domain if your audience is likely to look for Canadian sites. Use a global, top-level domain (gTLD) such as .com if your business is not local. A unique, topical name such as "dentist-atlanta.com" should rank higher in the SERPs than "dentist.com" or "smithclinic.com" (if the search term is likely to be "dentist in atlanta" or similar).

It is nice but not essential if the web host gives your site a unique IP address, but it is highly advisable to host your site on your own dedicated server. Shared web hosting means that a server could host thousands of web sites, and Google's spiders would be slowed down.

If you already have a Web site, you can find out its IP address using cmd.exe or an MS-DOS prompt, e.g. "ping www.cnn.com" and call up the displayed IP address in the browser. Example: http://64.236.24.12 brings up cnn.com. If you don't see the expected web page, it has a shared IP address.

2. Page Title

An ill-planned page title is the Achilles Heel of a Web page. This is the text that appears at the very top of the browser window.

The Title tag text should be brief and readable, avoiding superfluous words and punctuation marks. Begin with the most valuable keywords, e.g. "Root canal specialist dentist clinic, Mayfair, London", not something like "***** Fred Smith, BDS - 5 Stars Dental Clinic *****", or worse, "Welcome to my home page", or "Untitled".

3. Style Sheet

Placing style definitions in a .css (Cascading Style Sheet) file moves the body text close to the top of the document and shrinks the page size. Many Javascript effects can be replaced by CSS. Fast-loading pages are good for both humans and search engine crawlers.

4. Meta Tags

Google ignores the Keywords meta tag for ranking but other SEs use it. An extract from the Description meta tag sometimes appears in the SERP; sometimes you see a snippet from the body text. Moderation and relevance should be your benchmark for placing keywords in these tags.

5. Content

  • Quality content is rewarded by top placement in the search results. For example, if you sell new cars, used cars, and car service, you would have three branches, each containing pages relevant to that theme.
  • Links to popular causes, memorial ribbons, HTML validation, page counters, etc. could distract visitors to other sites.
  • Optimise images and keep the page size low.
  • Place key phrases towards the top of pages and in heading tags such as H1. Don't get hung up on a single keyword for the whole site. Pick different ones for different pages so that you have more ways to be found. Optimise for the search terms used by your paying customers, if you can identify them, not casual visitors.
  • Consider (this depends on the size and nature of your business) placing noncommercial pages such as staff pages, personal hobbies, genealogy and so on at a secondary level but not linked from the entry page. Some of my ranking success comes from hosting my hobby pages below my commercial site, because I cannot justify buying a domain for each of my interests. I legitimately link them to my resume, which has a link to my business site. This enables free placement of the secondary pages in otherwise for-fee directories.

6. Links and Folders

  • Link a site map from the home page so that crawlers can find the rest of your pages.
  • Link each page to the home page and to others in its logical group (but not to every other page in the site). The anchor text should use key phrases and words.
  • Use keywords for folders, image names and Alt text but don't overdo it. e.g. /hamilton/lawyer/divorce.htm, alt="Perth plumber" The deeper your directory structure, the less likely it will be spidered regularly.

7. Neighbourhood Watch

Get quality incoming links from sites that share your theme. Without referrals, it's near impossible to be visited by Googlebot. Try to get such links from sites with PR3 (Page Rank - see below) or better, not from link farms that are clearly built to boost PR. Make it easy for other sites to use keyword-loaded phrases in their links, say, by offering a cut-and-paste slice of HTML anchor code. Here is an example you can use to link to this page:

Links from lower-ranking peers will not penalise you; they simply won't appear in Google's list of backward links to your page. You cannot control who links to you, but you have control over who you link to.

Add a judicious number of outbound links to topical peers of the same or better calibre. Google likes links to authoritative sites, but don't overdo the external links. Although such sites might not overtly link to your site, their site statistics file might get crawled and constitute a link back to you.

8. Cloaking

Cloaking hides content from humans and SEs, which is generally a bad practice. Good reasons to cloak include hiding parts of your optimised pages from amateur competitors or to show different pages to different visitors based on their browsers.

Subscriber-only sites also manage to get into SEs. They use a cloaking practice known as "agent name delivery", which is a slab of code that checks whether the visitor is a crawler or a human. Crawlers get to see the whole site, but others are directed to a sign-up form.

9. Avoidable Practices

The following practices could get your site banned from Google at worst or lower its ranking at best:

  • Gimmicks. Pointless Javascript effects such as cursor trails and transitions do nothing for your viewers but place a lot of code above your body text. You want your content close to the top of the page.
  • Bad HTML code. Novice hand-coders might copy some HTML tags without understanding their meaning. One webmaster used the robot directive and wondered why his site was not fully in Google in spite of Googlebot visits and good incoming links. He was asking to be indexed, but for his links not to be followed.
  • Multiple sites with duplicated content, e.g. www.example.net and www.example.com hosted on the same server or different ones, as this is considered spamming. Use a permanent redirect on all secondary sites to point to the main domain.
  • Multiple copies of the same page. This is typically an entry or "doorway" page optmised for different keywords to lure different people, e.g. crackz.htm, serials.htm, passwords.htm, and so on.
  • Hidden content. This can be repetitive text on the same colour background or a layer with coordinates that are off the visible page. It begs the question why the author does not put this effort into creating visible text.
  • Flash-Only pages. A solution is a user agent entry check that displays Flash to enabled browsers, but plain HTML to crawlers and other human visitors.
  • Frames. Googlebot will crawl links in the Noframes text, but not ones in the framed pages. Other SEs might not crawl frames, so it is better to use tables and more so to use CSS. If you must use frames, ensure that you use the correct Doctype declaration for frames. I have noticed that Googlebot can now crawl links in frames but sometimes it cannot.
  • Submission software or service. They could submit your site to thousands of unknown SEs. You will get a lot of spam, abuse, and possible inclusion in link farms that will ruin your reputation in Google's eyes. After all, can you name more than five major SEs?
  • Session IDs. Sites that require session IDs from crawlers will get poor visibility because the previous session will have expired by the time Googlebot returns.
  • Over-optimisation. [Update 11/2003] Many sites that followed a strict "SEO formula" found that they could not be found at the top of the SERPs, or in the index at all. There is speculation that such tactics cause the sites to be filtered out of the search results.

10. Patience

Having optimized and submitted your pages to Google, get on with growing your business, because Google takes time to rank you. Work on getting quality, inbound links from high-ranking sites that feature the same subject matter. Increase your content and keep it fresh. Get free or paid listings in Google Adwords, Overture, Yahoo, Open Directory Project (www.dmoz.org), and reputable engines such as MSN, Yahoo!, and Ask Jeeves.

Should You Set Up For Retirement In Ocala?

Florida is a popular destination not just for migratory snowbirds and other animals, and for vacationers looking to bask in the sun and sand, but also for an increasing number of retirees who fly down to the Sunshine State during the cold and gloomy winter months.

According to statistics, the city of Ocala is one of the more popular destinations in the state. The city, which is famous for its lovely farms and estates, especially it horse-breeders and racetracks, also offers a lot of housing, investment and retirement-related opportunities for aging baby boomers and their dependents.

Ocala Has a Thriving Arts & Culture Scene

There's a place in the arts for just about everyone in Marion County. The Ocala Civic Theatre, along E. Silver Springs Blvd., produces more than 12 fully staged productions each season, in addition to hosting touring companies. The theater offers a year-round education program that reaches more than 1,000 students each year. The Appleton Museum of Art is the centerpiece of the Appleton Cultural Center, a 44-acre complex which also includes the Ocala Civic Theatre and the Pioneer Garden Club.

The current exhibit, "Diana, Princess of Wales: Dresses for a Cause," has been so popular that the museum has added separate phone lines for ticket reservations. Aside from these, the city is also home to the Brick City Center for the Arts, Central Florida Symphony Orchestra, Marion Performing Ballet, and the Marion Civic Chorale

Marion County Has Excellent Health-Care Facilities For Retirees

As a significant segment of Ocala's population is 65 years or older, the city ranks fourth in the nation in the number of residents above 65 years of age, according to 2003 U.S. Census Bureau data, which compared 390 metropolitan areas around the nation. Three other Florida cities occupy the top three ranks. The health-care industry here experiences what some locals call the "snowbird effect.", as the patient load at doctors' offices and hospital emergency rooms increase during the winter months and decrease during the summertime.

It's no surprise that health care has become one of the biggest industries in the county. Ocala boasts of two major hospitals that are built right across the street from each other, and offer some of the same services and operate busy emergency rooms. Munroe Regional Medical Center is a 421-bed, acute-care hospital, recognized in the US for its excellent heart program. It is the only obstetrics and pediatric hospital in the county. The 200-bed Ocala Regional Medical Center is best known for its Cancer Center, Bariatrics Center and Joint Care Center.

Marion County also has one of the few remaining health departments with a health clinic. Located in Ocala, the clinic provides primary care for the uninsured and interinsurer patients and has a mobile clinic that travels to rural regions of the county. The county recently began offering free prescription drug discount cards to all its residents, and almost all of the local pharmacies accept the discount card, which can cut the cost of prescription drugs as much as 20 percent.

The City Offers Many Housing Options For Retirees

From traditional neighborhoods, exclusive gated communities, to sprawling retirement villages, those looking for the perfect retirement home can find it all in Marion County, and Ocala as well. Areas like Silver Springs Shores and Marion Oaks, are home to more established residential communities and both are still experiencing constant growth.

Others areas like Fore Ranch and Heath Brook are newer retirement havens. The southern portions of the county is also home to a section of the large Villages retirement community , along with other gated retirement communities nearby. West of State Road 200 corridor in Ocala, there also lies the retiree hubs of On Top of the World, and Oak Run to name a few.

Career Profile - Become a Physician's Assistant

Are you looking for a stable career with continual innovation and variety? Do you enjoy working with people and have a knack for science and medicine? If so, you may want to consider becoming a Physicians Assistant. Every day, thousands of people have access to quality health care because there are Physicians Assistants (PAs) in their communities. Many physician assistants take jobs in rural communities that would otherwise be without a health care provider. As patient advocates and educators, PAs help people use the health care system more efficiently and effectively.

If you want to make a difference—and have a positive influence on health care in this country—the Physician Assistant profession is waiting for you.

What Does A Physicians Assistant Do?

Don't confuse physician assistants with medical assistants, who aren't qualified to do much more than take your blood pressure. Physician assistants do 80% of what doctors do—conduct exams, diagnose conditions, prescribe medications, even assist in surgery. While PAs are supervised by physicians, they have considerable independence. And while pay isn't quite as much as that of a doctor, it's far from sickly. Also, training is much shorter than it is for doctors—typically consisting of three years, post-bachelor's.

No surprise this is one of America's fastest-growing professions.

Physician assistants work wherever physicians or health care organizations employ them. They can be found in virtually all health care settings. Physicians Assistants work in hospitals, physicians' offices, HMOs, correctional institutions, military installations, VA medical centers, nursing homes, public health agencies, community clinics, research centers, urban/rural health clinics, health care education and administration offices, industrial medicine clinics, and even the White House.

Physician assistants can take medical histories, perform physical exams, order and interpret laboratory tests, diagnose and treat illnesses, counsel patients, assist in surgery, and set fractures.

Physician assistants are educated as generalists in medicine; all programs emphasize primary care. Although their education and credentialing are based on a primary care foundation, PAs can work in specialty fields, such as cardiovascular surgery, orthopedics, and emergency medicine. Most choose the primary care specialty areas of family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, and obstetrics and gynecology.

Education & Training

Requirements have been ratcheted up. Today, the typical student admitted to the three-year training program has a pre-med bachelor's degree, plus a few years of experience as a nurse, paramedic, or emergency medical technician.

All States require that Physicians Assistants complete an accredited, formal education program and pass a National exam to obtain a license. PA programs usually last at least two or three years and are full time. Most programs are in schools of allied health, academic health centers, medical schools, or 4-year colleges; a few are in community colleges, the military, or hospitals. Many accredited PA programs have clinical teaching affiliations with medical schools. Most applicants to PA educational programs already have a bachelor’s degree.

Some Physicians Assistants pursue additional education in a specialty such as surgery, neonatology, or emergency medicine. PA postgraduate educational programs are available in areas such as internal medicine, rural primary care, emergency medicine, surgery, pediatrics, neonatology, and occupational medicine. Candidates must be graduates of an accredited program and be certified.

As they attain greater clinical knowledge and experience, PAs can advance to added responsibilities and higher earnings. However, by the very nature of the profession, clinically practicing PAs always are supervised by physicians.

Career Outlook

Physicians and institutions are expected to employ more Physicians Assistants to provide primary care and to assist with medical and surgical procedures because PAs are cost-effective and productive members of the health care team. Physician assistants can relieve physicians of routine duties and procedures. Telemedicine—using technology to facilitate interactive consultations between physicians and physician assistants—also will expand the use of physician assistants. Job opportunities for PAs should be good, particularly in rural and inner city clinics, because those settings have difficulty attracting physicians.

Besides the traditional office-based setting, PAs should find a growing number of jobs in institutional settings such as hospitals, academic medical centers, public clinics, and prisons. Additional PAs may be needed to augment medical staffing in inpatient teaching hospital settings as the number of hours physician residents are permitted to work is reduced, encouraging hospitals to use PAs to supply some physician resident services. Opportunities will be best in States that allow PAs a wider scope of practice.

According the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2004 the median salary for Physicians Assistants was $77,863.

A commitment to caring is the foundation of the physician assistant profession - and has been since the profession began. Whether it is running a rural health clinic in South Dakota or a community health center in Florida, caring for pediatric patients in New York or geriatric patients in Arizona, Physicians Assistants are making a difference.

What to Do if You Don't Have Health Insurance - You Might Not Beat the Odds

Have you been working hard and paying your bills on time your whole life? Saving your money and trying to get ahead, looking forward to retiring some day? You read in the paper and hear on the news about so many people that are uninsured. Uninsured, and don't have health insurance because they can't afford it. Are you one of the uninsured people like I am? Are you worried about having a health care emergency and not knowing how you would pay your medical bills? You know you really can't switch jobs. You feel you're getting too old or under skilled to be hired by anyone else. You might even be self-employed too. You know you can't or don't want to learn a new skill to get a new job at a bigger company that has group health insurance. Your present employer really can't afford health insurance for his employees and you don't see that changing where you work.

You have gotten by this long without health insurance and you know that you should do something about it. But health insurance is expensive and getting health insurance is a good idea and something you have always been planning to do. But, we just keep putting it off, until it is too late. So what is a man with a family, or a single person do if you barely can find the money to pay for the necessities, like the rent, or a mortgage, the higher price of gas and food, much less expensive health insurance?

Do you think you can beat the odds? For men it is one in three, for women one in five that you will have a major health care emergency hospitalization and incur medical bills for surgery, hospital stay, outpatient medical care, therapy and prescription drugs. Do you worry and lay awake at night, wondering how you would pay for emergency care, if you needed it?

Ever wonder what you will do if the worst happens and you had to go to the hospital without health insurance? In a word. Bankruptcy. The retirement you worked your whole life for and dreamed about... the retirement you always envisioned is gone...taken away from you in an instant. And by a calamity you have tried to avoid. A calamity that broad sided you, and you had no warning and you never knew what hit you.

Imagine this scenario. You are 55, been in great shape your whole life, you work hard and live right, don't smoke, eat healthy foods, watch your weight and have been taking care of yourself the best way you know how. But lately you have been getting a little short of breath. You shake your head and say "it's just getting old" and keep right on working on the house, the car, the lawn, the crops or a new project you just have to get done. While working, all of a sudden you feel really short of breath. You stop, sit down and can't breathe. You look down and your arm is feeling funny and tingly. All of a sudden you feel a shooting pain running up your arm into your shoulder, "ah...just overdoing it again" you say to yourself. I'll just rest a spell and it will go away. But this time the pain does not go away like other times. You feel the numbness and worse, a stabbing pain goes into your shoulder. Quickly the pain intensifies and travels deeper and is shooting across your chest, a crushing pain and now you are really scared. "Wonder if this is a heart attack?" You know you waited too long and it's too late...This time it's for real. You are in the middle of a heart attack.

You are desperate and in stabbing pain. You know calling 911 might save you...if you can get to a phone. You call for your wife and she is inside the house and does not hear you. You try to get up and feel faint and you have no strength and your legs just can't move. You holler louder, it hurts so bad and she hears you this time. She rushes to your side and you are so short of breath you can't talk, the pain is too great. You point to your chest and she can see by the look on your face you are suffering and in great pain and something is terribly wrong. She runs to call 911, frantic about you and tells the ambulance to come right away and she thinks you are having a heart attack. She runs back to your side and you both are terribly scared and all you can do is wait.

The bad news has just begun...When the ambulance arrives, you find out the very worst has happened. You really are having a heart attack...they rush you away to the hospital, taking your vitals and giving you the drugs to save your life. Expensive surgery follows with angioplasty to open up your blocked arteries in your heart, and you get a stint to keep the worst blocked artery open. The doctors say that you should make a good recovery with adequate care, rest and therapy. You will have to take heart medications and high blood pressure drugs the rest of your life. Already the worry has started, and you think to yourself. "how am I going to pay for this"? The deep financial worry never leaves you. You have heard stories of financial disasters happening to good people with no insurance, Tragic consequences happening to people getting hit with huge medical bills for surgeries in the tens of thousands of dollars. You lost...you did not beat the odds.

Now what can you do? Your retirement dream is gone, now you will have to work the rest of your life to pay your medical bills off. The story, I shared is real, this medical tragedy happened to my brother, a farmer, a hard worker, a self-employed bulldozer operator in the prime of his life. No health insurance and he now faces a $45,000 medical bill he can't pay. Not unless he wants to sell the beautiful log cabin home he built with his own hands and the farm he worked his whole life for. He is worried sick and tied to heart drugs for the rest of his life. Heart drugs and a stint that make him feel even more sick. He has decided to sell part of his land to pay the hospital and clinic bills. He hates to do this, but has no choice.

He tried to pay the hospital and clinic with agreed upon payments of a $1,000 a month each, paying every penny he could, but that was not fast enough or good enough. The hospital and the clinic still turned his account over to the collection agencies even though he was paying over $2,000.00 a month. He is an honest man who worked hard his whole life and did not deserve this. He can barely afford the heart drugs and makes just enough money so he does not qualify for state-assisted health care or prescription drug benefits.

One more thing is important...That is not the only calamity. He is not eligible for any type of health insurance for his heart, even if he could afford to pay $850.00 a month for health insurance coverage, plus his monthly medical bill payment to the collection agency. Why? Because now, he is uninsurable. In order to be covered under health insurance for his heart, he would have to not have any hospital care or treatment related to his pre-existing condition for seven years to quality for having that heart condition covered under any health insurance policy. For my brother, he will have to work harder than ever to pay this debt off, just when he should be taking it easier and not working so hard to prevent yet another heart attack. There will be no retirement for him, he is 59 and that is a terribly hard price to pay.

What does this mean for you? Don't wait, don't let a major health problem ruin your chances of retirement. Health care coverage can be purchased and can be budgeted for. If my brother knew what was going to happen, he would have budgeted the money for a health insurance policy. He could have spared a couple thousand a year for an inexpensive health care policy with a high deductible. This would have cut the medical bills he received by a significant amount, and he still would have health insurance to cover him in the future. When you're lying in bed at night, think of the people you know that have had their lives turned up side down by a health calamity, lost their jobs, their homes, all their savings and their cherished retirement. This is too big a price to pay. Take care of yourself, and your family. Protect your retirement dream. Getting an online insurance quote, is easy, and safe and can help you take a step in the right direction. Help remove most of the worry, about "what if a medical emergency occurred to you or a loved one". Would you be covered? Let's hope the answer is "Yes."

When I got laid off from a great job due to a large corporate company downsizing, at the age of 50, I lost my group health insurance. I went on the Internet and found the online insurance quote websites a real help. The easy to fill in forms "just fill in your zip code" got me started with my online quote. The websites were easy to use, and I enjoyed getting free insurance quotes. The websites connected me with top insurance agents who helped me figure out how to compare the quotes. The agents were friendly, easy to talk to, and I got a policy to protect me at a cost I could afford. Please click on the link above and get some health insurance that will protect you and your loved ones. Just knowing something really can happen and taking the right steps to protect yourself can help remove some of the worry. Don't try to beat the odds, you may not win. Don't let a small financial burden become an impossible one. Do it for yourself, do it now before it is too late.

If You Could Submit Just One Page To The Search Engines Which Should It Be?

Listen. Some make submitting pages to search engines sound like the fast track to search engine ranking nirvana. Not to mention you’ll see offers to submit your site to a scadzillion sites for some low nominal fee.

Yeah right. It’s enough to make Pinocchio's nose grow!

Because it’s just not true. Basically there are really only three search engines that count. Google snags more than 60% of all searches. Yahoo 23%. While MSN search has less than 10%. Which leaves a bit over 5% for the remaining scadzillions to fight over.

So don’t fall for the line those snake oil salesmen would have you believe. You know? That submitting to all known search engines will have the bots lining up like addicts at a methadone clinic to get at your site. With traffic following your high search engine rankings shortly thereafter.

Besides it's not even necessary. Since if you have just one link from a site already in Google or Yahoo those bots will find you. Sooner or later. Making it safe to keep your wallet securely in your pants or purse.

Now I tell you all this knowing there may be one exception. But only for those who insist on submitting out of some sense of leaving no stone unturned.

If that's you, do you know which one page might be the only possible exception to the "It Ain’t Necessary to Submit Your Site" rule?

Let me cue up the Final Jeopardy music while you ponder that.

Give up?

Okay, I’m talking about your site map. Reason being your site map points the bots to the promised land of all pages from your site. Or should.

Given that let me make this site map submission thing super quick and easy.

First to insure the bots can’t help but find yours, put a link to your site map in the footer of every page on your site. That’s right, EVERY page. This way no matter which page the bot lands on first it can’t miss your site map. And in turn follow it to all the pages of your site.

But wait. You gotta have a site map to submit a site map, right? Well then, here’s a nifty little site map generator that should be good enough to get you started.

http://www.netroglycerine.com/sitemap.html

It gets high marks from me because it works and it is available at no charge.

Here’s how it works.

Enter your URL. Click none of the check boxes. Then hit ENTER on your keyboard since there is no start or run key on the page. Then right before your very eyes, in seconds, one general issue site map will appear.

Next "View Source". Cut and paste the code into your page template and away you go. One quick and dirty site map ready for submission. Or you can edit it a tad to clean it up a bit.

Oh and if you aren’t enamored with that approach here are some other suggestions. Both free and for fee.

Finally submit your site map page to Yahoo, Google and sooner or later MSN search once it’s unveiled. To help with that here’s the links:

Yahoo http://submit.search.yahoo.com/free/request

Google http://www.google.com/addurl.html

Anyway, whether you use a tool to shave hours off the process or feel compelled to create your site map by hand, submitting a site map is a once and done deal. Do so and sooner or later a hapless search engine bot will be assigned to check out the page you submitted. When it does it will think it hit web pages paydirt and get busy indexing all pages in your site.

There. Now you know which page, if any, to submit where.

4 Ways to Achieve Top Ranking in Search Engines

Do you have a website or blog that needs more traffic? One way to do that is to receive organic traffic by ranking high in the search engines! Let's take a look at 3 ways you can achieve top ranking in the search engines and enjoy the benefits of the traffic that comes from it.

1. Right now, search engines love blogs. If you don't have a blog you need to start one! Once you have your blog set up, you need to put together a keyword list and post them at around keywords that relate to the theme of your blog.

You should also socially bookmark every blog post that you make. Onlywire.com is one way to submit to multiple social directories with one click. These bookmark posts can serve as search engine bait and help find their way to the top rankings in the search engines for the keywords that you're targeting.

2. Another way to achieve top ranking in search engines is to hyperlink keyword phrases, back to targeted website pages. Google in particular puts a lot of emphasis on hyperlinked keyword phrases. You can find your way on the top pages of Google just by getting more back links that are hyperlinked to a specific phrase.

3. Speaking of back links if you want your website to rank high on the search engines you need a lot of links pointing back to it. Therefore it is important that you concentrate on one way back links as opposed to doing reciprocal linking.

You can achieve excellent search engine rankings by getting quality back links to your site. This can be done in a variety of ways including article marketing, forum marketing, classified advertising, submitting your site to search engines, and so on.

4. A fourth way we want to talk about, to rank high in search engines is to actually pay for your traffic. The fastest way to get on page 1 of any search engine is to buy the traffic in the form of a pay per click advertising campaign.

Although this will not technically rank you high, you will be on page 1 and then getting traffic in a matter of minutes when you set up a campaign for example with Google Adwords. This can be expensive, so be careful not to overstep your bounds before you're aware of exactly what you are doing.

Organic traffic is better than paid traffic because searchers look at the organic websites first, and because the cost is substantially less to you as an advertiser. Hopefully these three ways to rank in search engines as well as the pay per click way will be helpful to you.

Absolute & Relative Links How Do They Rank?

The question for this article is whether or not you should use "absolute url's" or "relative url's"? Not only that, this article researches whether or not Google ranks these methods differently.

Absolute: You use the entire url pointing to the designated page.

ex. www.yoursite.com/page1/index.html

Relative: You use an automatic path to the file

ex. /page1/index.html

Relative gives a path that is "assumed". Your browser will automatically "assume" to put www.yoursite.com before the link.

When researching these two methods, I used 4 factors to consider:

  1. 20 Different popular search terms
  2. Top 20 listings
  3. Top 10 "Inbound Links" for pages within the site
  4. Relative/Absolute urls NOT images

So here's the results of this study:

  1. The average results within the 20 search terms had a ratio of: Absolute 40% / Relative 60%
  2. The average inbound links for each site I researched had a ratio of: Absolute %50 / Relative 50%

So it seems safe to say that Google doesn't necessarily rank "absolute/relative" paths differently.

Google may recognize the fact that neither method is wrong, it only reflects the designers preference.

There's only 1 type of Absolute and Relative paths that get a bad rank. Web sites that use "tracking url's" or data base urls get a significant reduction in page rank emmediately.

The easiest way to notice this in action is to go to www.pogo.com (Online games). You would think that pogo has a great rank but nope, in fact their main page rank is 0/10. This happens because every time google crawls through their url, the site is different.

So if you care about page rank, keep your url's the same as the day your site was born!

Keywords And How To Use Them To Ensure Search Engine Visitors

What are keywords and why are they so important in optimizing your website?

Keywords, basically, are the words or phrases that are most associated with the subject of your business. These are the terms that people will most likely use to search for information about the topic of your website.

For example, your website is dedicated to the general subject of “cat care.” The keywords that are applicable for your business should be:

cat care

care cat

care of a cat

cat care clinic

cat care society

care of my cat

take care of my cat

take care of a cat

cat health care

to take care of a cat

how to take care of a cat

care for a cat

care of cat

care for cat

care of your cat

to care for a cat

how to care for a cat

taking care of a cat

cat dental care

persian cat care

There are more, most definitely, but these examples should give you a good idea on how to come up with the most effective keywords for your online business.

You could manually think of 1000s of applicable keywords, but such would be a brain buster. Instead, check out the tools found on the following websites:

https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordSandbox

http://www.inventory.overture.com

http://www.goodkeywords.com

The features on these sites will give you a lot of suggestions for possible keywords which you can use. Once you have selected your keywords, it’s time to put them to good use. Here are the things that you should do with them:

Populate your website’s content with the keywords. Try to insert 2 to 4 keywords per 100 words. This will give you a 2 to 4 percent density level, which many experts believe is the optimal amount of keywords to attract the attention of the search engine spiders without compromising the logical integrity of your content.

Remember, just because you use the keywords in your content, doesn't mean that the readability of your content should be sacrificed. Always keep in mind that you have to keep your content informative.

Insert the keywords in your meta tags. Meta tags are HTML codes that help the search engine spiders to identify your web pages. Simply include the following tag in your source code:

Please Note: In each of the HTML instances below, to create PROPER html tags you will need to replace [ with <>.

[META name=”keywords” content=”(place your keywords here with each term separated by a comma)”]

Meta tags should also be present for your title, with the use of the tag [title] , as well as your headlines, with the use of the tag [h1], [h2], [h3] and so on and so forth.

Here’s an example of a title tag for your source code:

[title]An Introduction To Cat Care[title]

And here’s an example of a headline tags:

[h1]Why Should You Care For Your Cat?[h1]

[body](the appropriate part of your content goes here)[body]

[h2]How To Start Caring or Your Cat[h2]

[body](the appropriate part of your content goes here)[body]

Use your keywords in your ALT tags. ALT tags is the alternative text that appears every time the mouse cursor passes over an image. It is advisable that you have a working knowledge of HTML for this, though most HTML editors like Microsoft Front Page and Macromedia Dreamweaver have features that will make this easier.

It is important to note how search engine spiders read your website. Once they have pinpointed your page, courtesy of the meta tags in your source code, the search engine spiders will read your content from the uppermost left part of the page going to the extreme right, and back left in the next line, much like how a web surfer will view your site.

It is therefore essential that the uppermost left portion of your webpage contains your keywords. This can be done by including the said keywords in your title.

Your first paragraph is critical. Make sure to include your keywords in the very first sentence, and also try to mention your keywords at least twice in the rest of the paragraph. Succeeding paragraphs need only mention your keywords at least once.

Divide your content into paragraphs, and introduce a shift in subtopic with a sub-headline. The sub-headline should also include your keywords.

Lastly, about the bottommost right portion of a web page, many people are actually having a hard time figuring out how to include the keywords in this section. Here’s a simple trick. The bottommost right portion of a page is usually reserved for your copyright notice. In our running example of a business involved with cat care, where “cat care” are the primary keywords, you could use the copyright format below:

© 2005 cat care

That should do it, right?

Keyword research and website optimization are only a small part of getting high search engine rankings. I will cover other strategies in coming articles.
